Dr Prudence Ive is a specialist physician who has undergone her medical training for both her basic medical degree and her specialization in internal medicine at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She has more than 16 years’ experience in the conduct of clinical research and treatment of HIV and TB in South Africa. Dr Ive headed the Themba Lethu Clinic at the Helen Joseph Hospital for 10 years till 2005, and thereafter acted as a clinical advisor in the implementation of the national rollout programme for ARV’s at the clinic. She worked at the Clinical HIV Research Unit (CHRU) for 14 years where she was Deputy Divisional Head and AIDS Clinical Trials Network Site Leader She has been an Investigator and Principal Investigator on many clinical trials in the HIV and TB fields. She is currently sub specialising in Clinical Infectious Diseases at Professor Mendelson’s unit at the University of Cape Town, Groote Schuur Hospital.
