Leigh Johnson

Leigh Johnson is an actuary and epidemiologist at the Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Research, at the University of Cape Town. He specializes in the modelling of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and in the modelling of prevention and treatment strategies for these diseases. This includes the assessment of the demographic impact of HIV/AIDS in South Africa, the effect of antiretroviral treatment on demographic indicators, the effect of prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, interactions between HIV and other STIs, as well as the monitoring of access to antiretroviral treatment in South Africa.
